how do i know what STI test to take?
By Anissa Lozano, OkaySo Intern
First off, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a super common occurrence and some people won't know they have an STI until they get tested.
While there are a few options such as a urine test, blood test or swab test, it can be overwhelming to know which one to take. It really depends on your sexual activity and and exposure. For example, if someone is engaging in oral sex only, an oral test might be best.
If another person is engaging in penetrative sex, they can get a urine test or anal swab test. A blood test can also done for an STI check up. Folks can always talk to their doctor about what options are best for them based on their activity and exposure. If you have any questions, download our app and get connected with one of our experts.
