healthy ways to end a relationship

If you’ve ever gone through a breakup, you know that they can sometimes bring out the worst in people. From emotional manipulation to ghosting to insults, it can get very hurtful.
If you know you need to break things off, here are some healthy ways to end your relationship.
Step 1: Get clear about your reasons. You don’t necessarily owe the other person an explanation, but if you are clear about why, it will make the whole process easier.
Step 2: Pick the time and place. The closer you can get in person, the better. Do not send a text. Pick a time when you both will have enough time to talk and there won’t be distractions.
Step 3: Say it clearly and simply. Sometimes we feel the need to talk and talk. But a simple sentence will make sure our message gets through.
Step 4: Give them space. The person you’re breaking up with will need time to absorb the information and have their feelings. After you’ve told them, try to just sit quietly.
Step 5: Set boundaries. Often both people need more space after a breakup. Talk about what you both need if you’re going to be around each other in person and how you want to deal with social media.
